  1. go find the plug before track day to make sure you know what you\'re looking for
  2. there is a big grey plug over by the ABS unit.. just disconnect it and it kills it working. you get the ABS light on your dash but thats fine at the track. end of the day just plug it back in again. Play carefully with it unplugged to begin with - its QUITE a different experience overall when you get to the point of locking a wheel
  3. a factory geometry 2.2 also revs good tasty /pot stirred. but honestly really.. if you want a touch more zaz than a 2.0...
  4. Or get a 2.2NA strengthen it and have an actual 2.2 turbo motor.
  5. ooh and the last thing you need to know OP... you want the 6mt drive shaft, or you can get one from an Auto GC/GF as the auto (4AET) is the same length shaft as the 6mt one
  6. yes i actually used to own that diff ha.. and yes 6mt is best as you get better clamp on the 6mt one, but totally doable bolt in stuff using 5mt as well. its just a smaller diameter set up is all.
  7. you DO need the 6mt clutch fork!!! that\'s critical as the 5mt one is the wrong shape and is required whether you go 5 or 6mt clutch. your front axles will go straight on, but beware that v9 spec c onwards comes with female stubs on the box so you have to convert it to male then your front axles work, kits available or you can get stubs from an auto box i believe. rear axles depends on what rear diff you use to be honest. straight up a normal r180 6mt rear diff wont work with your factory v3 axles. if you go for the 3.9 r160 rear diff (one for sale on here) and quite hard to get a hold of then your v3 axles are mint. IF you go the v7 diff way, you need to convert your axles / rear hubs / brakes etc all over to r180 as well. clutch / flywheel / starter / clutch slave all as mentioned above.
  8. note point on the dash cluster that registers \'speed cut\' is sometimes what visually appears to be ~185ish or more on the cluster itself. if it just keeps going and going and going.. then its likely your ecu is something non JDM factory. - careful as things get a bit lean on factory ecu and yellows int he 180km/h arena.. seen a few melted pistons / rings as a result
  9. between the top hole in the stick and the twist in the neck is a good place. slightly overfull but not to much as noted above. 4-5l is the right amount in a stock sump.. just go by what the dipstick is telling you.
  10. ross - its been covered many time, v7 pistons are not factory forged. they are hyper....
  11. thats for cusco diffs though nick.. from memory the Subaru factory ones are sealed up. Fwiw. hes brough the v2 sti ra one i sold to Roo and is asking about that diff specfically
  12. there is a factory mechanical type found in a v2 sti ra, or some of the later v5 sti R, v6 sti R, and i think RA of each. scratch that - v2 sti ra is the only r160 mechanical factory type, they others are r180
  13. first id pick to be open, the second mechanical
  14. our BPE binds slightly in reverse on full lock, but it is an auto. its more common for the centers on the autos to turn gay than manual ones. but kooms right itl be investigating the center more than rear to begin with
  15. add to that an oil temp gauge always helpful in a performance vehicle i\'d imagine.
  16. And the press is going to do what..
  17. And how are you hitting the bearing?
  18. make sure you hit the nut and not the hub then hit as hard as you like
  19. Get a spare nut. Grind off the fine edge. Wind it on so its flush with the axles end. Beat the living snot (carefully) with a sledge hammer.
  20. wouldnt that exhaust fitting be best rotated 180 degrees.? would cause pressure back up the pipe.. instead of venturi if it was sucking past?
  21. cleaned. pointless arguing gets us no where. There is plenty of stuff on the internets people should go and have a read of. this verifies Lachlan is correct. end.
  22. but technically you are wrong, its rate rises, not that it has a rising rate So to clarify what Lachlan was saying is: "the rate rising, and rising rate are not the same thing". in this context we are talking about a regulator which rate rises 1:1 with boost.
  23. are the best why? i call utter BULLSHIT on that sorry.
