  1. there's about 7 pages of results for 18x8.5 some with pics aye https://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php?/search/&q=18x8.5&quick=1 OK not a Bugeye but yeah look ok
  2. 18x9.5 +38 MXR's in Hyper black/polished lip on a V7 non Sti wagon we supplied just recently. They had 225/40's fitted, I understand on the sedans they have slightly larger guards? They just required a guard roll as the rear was well and truly tucked under. We also have these in stock in 18x8.5 +44 which will also clear brembo's, no guard rolling required. Have fitted this same size to a few GC8's in previous models. Only required a slightly (but still legal) tyre, and a mild guard roll (no flaring required). Have PLENTY of Subaru fitments, IN STOCK at present, Club Sub discount applies Everything from 17x8 to 18x9.5, huge range of colours. Any questions please don't hesitate to ask or PM.
  3. well i have 18x8.5 with a +48 offset and they just clear everything, but the wheels are fraken wide and i had to go for a 215 over a 225 or i would be rubbing against things.
  4. Hey everyone I've been in the market for new rims for a LONG while now. My Bugeye still has these awful and ugly 17x7.5 rims since I got the car and I just haven't upgraded yet for various reasons. I decided to go 18x8 as I like the 18 inch look. I'm after a nice concave (not insanely concave), with the smaller spoke design. Kudos Tokyo are my favourite wheel as an example of the style I like. Anyway, I have not upgraded as I: 1. Can't seem to find a wheel I want in the right size, width, offset, stud pattern and color. 2. Am a bit stuck on how big I can go, in regards to rubbing, clearance, etc etc. So, I was wondering if I can go 18x8.5 on a Bugeye without modding, or with minimal modding? I'm on stock ride height currently. Also, I've been adverse to going TOO big or TOO wide because I kept hearing about performance loss due to heavier rims/tyres and a greater rotating mass. How much of a performance difference would 18x8.5 be compared to 17x7.5? Cheers!
  5. Said "sayonara" to her PS: if you ever see a set of 18x8.5 Work Kiwami's at wreckers - don't get them, they're a toast.
  6. The caliper is standard 4 pot mounted on custom bracket. The caliper hit the spokes of the alloys I tried. I was looking for a wheel with some dish and rota grids are perfect for what i want but I am not after the hellaflush look. I am happy to buy the appropriate size semis when i get the rims and have the body done. i am definitley not going for the stretched tyre look and yes this is for a dedicated race car. As an example on my car the dtm gt 099 did not clear my break set up. I have had alloys with no dish clear fine but thats not what i want. I am not talking about rolling/flaring the guards to make the 18's fit, i have had a quote from a bodyshop to fabricate new guards to make them fit matching them to the wheel after i bought them. The issue of clearing the inside of the guards I haven't considered but will discuss this when i get around to buying the rims. I will try the rota grids in 17 if they are available but everyone is telling me they no longer make them in 17's 5x100 pcb and i don't liek the rota dpt's. Maybe I will go for the 18x8.5jj but i will wait and see, I know my supporter paul (PS Automotive) doesn't want me to put the 9.5jj on the car.
  7. should be able to fit okay with the right tyre. I have 18x8.5 40 offset with rolled rear guards. 19x8.5 45 offset might negate the need for the roll.
  8. Hey Reuben, do you think I can fit 18x8.5 +44 on my GC only running -1.5 camber in the front? dont mind rolling the rears a little and running stretched tyres. Prefer not to paint but trying to stick with the new camber laws
  9. According to one of the online wheel calcs, running a 245 40 R18 on a 18x8.5 the wheel will sit 14.7mm closer to the strut in comparison to a 225 45 R17 on a 17x7.5 rim, however using a 25mm spacer will solve that problem. I roughly worked out the wheel should sit 48-49mm further out than the factory wheel arch, does this sound right?
  10. apologies, 17x7.5 - +53 offset, 18x8.5 - +55 offest. Adding into the equation 25mm wheel spacers/adapters. Cheers
  11. i had 215/35/18 on a 18x8.5 and that was stupid
  12. Hey guys, I'm currently running 17x7.5 rims with 225 45 R17 tyres on my 98 GC8 V4 Coupe. Is anyone aware of, or have run into any issues going to a 18x8.5 with a 245 40 R18 tyre? The rolling circumference is 57mm different between the 2 tyres, 10mm different in static rolling radius. I'm looking to fit 25mm wheel spacers that convert the 5x100 stud pattern to 5x114.3 and install flares. Has many done this, if so any dramas, i.e. scrubbing, limited turning radius, etc. Any feed back greatly appreciated. Cheers
  13. Just brought a brand new set of 18x8.5 Rota Grid's for my Legacy.. Just the rim at this stage, should be able to get tyres early next year.
  14. What is the standard offset for b4's? I was told it was 45p. hyper said that i had to get a higher offset to fit 18x8.5. other places said that it would fit if i get the guards rolled.
  15. 225 on a 9.5" rim yeah that ain't ideal You'd get better road handling out of a 18x8 or 18x8.5 wheel if you're chasing ultimate cornering, 9.5 is unnecessarily wide, even better would be 17x8 as that'll fit over stock wrx brakes, reduce a heap of weight + lower the gearing. Obviously won't look as sicKo though.
  16. With the lighter wheels it should make steering lighter and more responsive anyway. I weighed a wheel and it's 9Kg which pretty light for an OEM 18x8.5 wheel. Had a mate weigh a 5 spoke wheel and it weighed 12.4Kg (both weighed using a bathroom scale). Agreed, however, the bigger brakes is probably the only 'form over function' thing I'm doing which will only be noticed by some people and get them to wonder if anything else been done to the car.
  17. Done! Sitting on BC Golds, Pretty safe 18x8.5 Rota PWR's over 4pot/2pot stoppers and Lgt bumpstops. Nothing excessive, just nice!
  18. Hi Johnny, we will have the 18x8.5 +44p Rota grids in next week, these are a wicked wheel and have been brought in especially for Subaru's. 56.1 centre bore so will fit on the hub lip like a factory wheel, no hub centric rings required. These wheels will also fit over brembo's, no spacers required. Pics can be seen here: Hi Turtle, unfortunately there are no 5x120 fitments coming in the next shipment but we will be looking into this in the future. [quote name='cornf3 said: 18x9.5 dpt offset 35 is what im after do you have a price? Hi Cornf3, in the next shipment we have 18x9.5 Dpt's in 5x100 and 5x114.3 but only in 20p offsets. Rota do make: 18x9.5 rota grid available in 38p offset, DPT 18x10 +35p, DPT 18x9 +42, as our second shipment hasn't been completely processed yet we are still able to modify some orders... Funkytown and Donutbunny: Please view the product list on the rotawheels homepage: url]http://www.rotawheels.com/wheelcatalog.asp[/url] The rota grid (IKF): 17x8 +35, 44 Rota torque in 17x8 comes in +35 and +48 5x100 fitment. Again, I am trying my absolute best to be able to cater to everybody's personal requirements and I hope we can find something that suits you all! 19. No worries! Assuming your car is the Gc8 in the photos, we have an 18x8.5 +44 that will sit JUST out of the guards for a little bit of poke, or if you want we have an 18x9.5 +38 which also fits Gc8's with a bit of work (as seen on the previous page) You can get hold of us on: 0800 ROTA4U [email protected] or www.rotawheels.co.nz Kind regards
  20. The wheels are probably farked from going over the curb... 18x8.5 Kiwamis
  21. Got my set of 18x8.5 rota grids fitted today thatks to the guys at hyper performance. Feedback? p.s i know it's riding high lol. Next mod is adjusties.
  22. An 18x8.5 is a great fitment on the Blitzen/b4's. We always recommend rolling the guards (just the inner lip) no flaring required. You could quite easily run a 225/40 which is barely stretched at all on an 8.5" rim. We have this size coming in our brand new MXR's. Huge range of colours also
  23. Yeah i had to roll my guard on my leggy paper thin im running 18x8.5 35P on tein adjustables without any camber adjustment other than the front top hats, if you get the offset right on those 9\'s then you should be able to fit them, its just making sure they clear all the suspension,
