New 2005 legacy issues!

Recommended Posts

Just picked up my new GT legacy From compliance today and iv got a couple querries...

1- how do I get the keyless entry to work?? Iv done a search and can only find info relevant to the older legacys?

2-I failed compliance cos of my lower front suspension arms needing new rear rubber as the are cracked and perished... Is there a good aftermarket option for this? It's a press in and out job so if anyone has some good advice?

3-I want my Subaru rumble back! Can anyone point me in the right direction for a good quality after market option to suit the 2005 GT's?

Thanks guys :-)

1 - Please clarify... is this the button keyless entry, or the door handle pin keyless entry?

2 - Just go genuine, they're not that expensive ($78+ GST Retail when I used to work at Armstrong's).

3 - Good luck, Equal length headers + Twin scroll turbo = No rumble!... You should be able to pickup a set of GeNOME or dEVIL mufflers for it cheap (there's usually a few on Trademe).

Hope you enjoy your car... I *LOVE* Gen 4 Legacy's... I miss mine :(

Found it in my Subaru Bible....

UNLOCKING DOORS USING THE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM WITH A SECURITY CODE.

Preparation

1. Have the driver's door unlocked. 2 Hold the door handle up for 6 secs.

3. A buzzer will begin to sound.

4. While the buzzer is sounding, press the remote control unlock button & the buzzer will stop. The prep is now complete. (The buzzer will sound for 30 secs)

Setting

Illustration using 3246 as the 4 Digit Security Code

1. Lift & release the door handle 3 times -> WAIT FOR BUZZER -> Lift & release twice -> WAIT FOR BUZZER -> Lift & release 4 times -> WAIT FOR BUZZER -> Lift & release 6 times.

2. When the buzzer sounds intermittently, repeat the same procedure above within 30 secs.

*If you make a mistake when setting the security code, lock the driver's

door to cancel the setting procedure and start over from no. 1 preparation procedure.

* As a safety feature you will not be able to set all 4 digits to 0000,1111,2222 etc or consecutive nums such as 1234 etc.

Those front control arm bushes were $196 each retail last time i checked.

Big bore muffler will help get some rumble but not as much as the older gen stuff.

As far as keyless entry goes, youve checked the battery in the remote right?

1 - Buy a manual for it.

http://www.techbooks.co.nz/

2 - Not a press jobbie at all (unless they changed it in the gen 4's) You can DIY it easy i've done about 4 now myself, doing another one in a few weeks. If you do go ahead and DIY, tell us, or you'll break the new ones when you put them on.

3 - As stated, car has equal length headers which kills most of the boxer burble. Um, yah. Get an older subie if you want burble? Or a 2.5 Turbo, they still have single scroll.

There... MAY... be some aftermarket headers out there that give das burble. Google it? Suabru Twin scroll headers/exhaust manifold.

Different bushes in the gen 4's Ben...

And yes Reuben, they do need to be pressed out and in.

Ah shit sorry, heads not on right. Are the gen 4 ones less prone to failure? Cos im convinced Subaru couldve done a better design job on the gen 3 ones.

When you say you DIY'ed them before did you hammer them out? Press them in a vice? How did you get the bushes out of the lower arms? Thanks

I would hazard a guess and say he's talking about the earlier bushes, which are easily DIY'd. Yours need to be pressed.

Um, IMO the gen 3 and earlier ones are better. The early gen 4's were made of the wrong durometer rubber and tore out within 50,000kms.

My conern was just with loading on the bushing causing them to pull through the control arm. Which is what happened on mine and looks to be whats happened in that thread you linked. Anyways im done derailing the thread now :P

Ah that re-design makes a lot of sense as it eliminates the problem ive experienced. Must be a bitch on lowered cars!

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
