Squeaking clutch on my B4

Recently my clutch is letting out quite a skeaking noise as I depress the clutch pedal. Can be heard from the engine bay, louder than what can be heard in the cabin. I don't have any issues with the clutch/gearbox performance. So what should I get looked at? What is likely the issue?

My guess would be you are running low on grease on your release bearing.

Not really a simple fix, you have to take you gearbox out to get to it.

mines been skeaking for about 8 months now havent had a problem but will be doing my clutch soon so will be useing a new release bearing. you know if the beaing is completly gone it makes a nice whine noise

Try lubing the tip of the slave cylinder pushrod where it contacts the clutch fork. Use some heavy duty stuff like lithium spray grease, not CRC, WD40 etc.

the spriget bearing on the flywheel is loose/weared . i had heard a few and my had that same problem

ok my mate has just put a new motor in his b4 and has got the same problem only it really squeeks and when the clutch is pressed it makes a weird scuffing noise as well and when released just a squeak what could be going on here ill lube the pushord on the slave cylinder im thinking maybe somehow the fork popped out when he put it together

mine squeaks. i did some searching around and found it was quite common with Subarus, will try and get it fixed at some stage.

The scuffing noise seems to be normal with a new clutch until it beds itself in. Have had it on the last 3 clutches ive done. Mine squeeks/creaks when you release the clutch but thats actually the dashboard inside the car flexing where the pedal mounts to it.

Did you cable tie it in or something? I love how rangi you are buddy

Nah the dash on the GT30 has a different design to what ive seen on the GT. Theres no supports on the bit the clutch pedal bolts into so it flexes under strain

Thats why you should go back to a GTB! ;D
