removing bg5 tansmission

hey does any one know how to remove a transmission from a bg5 gtb, ive got the top bolts undone but when i went to do the bottom i saw the steering rack was in the way nd a cross member so i was wondering if u guys could help me there

you can do it with the front subframe in situ.

If you run a TMIC youl need to take that off, and the starter motor, then remove the clutch fork pin ( do a search on here to find how).

Then remove front axles, make sure oil is already removed from the box and the rear drive shaft, remove the gearbox mount and it should pull off.

(one assumes your TT is a manual) if its auto i dunno what steps change sorry.

edit: oooh you probly need to remove the front pipes off the turbos as well... epicly ghey on TT's

for auto, just follow above, you wont have to undo the clutch fork (as there is none) but you will have to get a 12mm ring spanner to undo the 4 bolts holding on the torque converter.

you should have an inspection plate at the top of the box (this is how i do mine) but you may be able to do it from under the car)

That would have been a funny step to miss out. Especially if he was pulling it out on his chest :D

Also you will need to unbolt the gear stick linkages ;)

if its a manual, or undo all the auto crap from in the cabin

also I never drain the oil, i just have a chopped drive shaft to whack up the back of the box. and i just ruff bastard my manual boxes off with a big jimmy bar... ::)

cool guys nd its a manual wouldnt be caught dead in an auto haha nd im just pullin the motor out

nd got everything else unbolted part from the trans then when i went to get underneath it i saw the stuff in the way

so just thought id see if there was a way round it haha

You should be able to get onto the nuts with a 1/2" powerbar and a 14mm socket. Thats how I always do it. Just poke it up in front of the axle from underneath.

If your just taking the engine out - you can undo those nuts with a spanner and a few good whacks. Dont need to take the half shafts off. You will need to remove the pitching bar on top of the trans so you can lift it to get the motor out.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
