Bein a real hardass today eh Paul?

To sum up internal is fitted to the turbo. if you look at the exhaust side of a turbo you will see a little flap. The flap vents into the factory downpipe.

An external is fitted before the turbo and should be vented into the downpipe after the turbo.

External

Internal (notice the flap on the right.

hehehe, kinda wrx_lou, there is multiple treads about it. so thought adding the already written experience of other would help the user more than a new thread of the same stuff yet again :)

Ok, so it has both? It still clearly shows what I described and most likely what OP's would appear to look like if he did it unless he swapped out the turbo.

Had the question been related to fitment of and not the difference between then it may of been mentioned that the setup in the pic would of had the flap welded shut.

Don't take me too seriously ;D I'm just here taking the piss out of yet another idiotic external wastegate thread.

He already knows how they are set up r.e.

u dont need to weld the internam shut...if u discoonect vacuum hose from it it stays shut...the spring holds it shut...welding is stupid not only warps it if u weld the flap and if u tac the swivel on the outside u just made it so u cant use internal ever again unless u grind it off

its called boost creep.once boost comes on the internal can creep open abit andexhaust gases can enter while also the external opens.losing 2-3psi.easy to weld shut and dont be a horri morri

Re: boost spike on external wastegate in higher gears?

would having a GFB boost tap in the line to the wastegate (has a 12psi spring i beleave) make boost spike in 3rd and 4th? it runs 12psi in 1st and 2nd with the tap wound all the way down wich should be spring pressure??

in 3rd it jumps to 16-18psi then back to 12psi...

if i take the tap out would it stop this issue?

and would having a small size vac line on the wastegate casue this? would a bigger line to the gate help by opening gate earlier?

You sound like a complete tool. If you can't get your external to hold 12psi (yet you think that's mint as) how did you ever manage when it was using the internal??

Externals have there place in the scheme of things and people can do whatever they want, but to say an internal gate can't control boost on a street car is silly.

Thats a stock turbo and the stock boost control solenoid.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
