Rough idle and drop out of revs?

As above, problem number 356 showed up this arvo. When you let you foot off the gas it just about cuts out or does cut out and is surging at idle and slowly cutting out.

Any ideas?

Is your new BOV set too soft so that it's open to atmosphere at idle?

Are you still using a standard ECU?

Still using a standard ecu. I only changed the valve after the issue showed up and it was slightly better but still there with the v7 one. Ive had a look around for a hose off etc but cant find anything. Bloody annoying cause I thought I just had the turbo to go

Is the BOV venting to atmosphere? It sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere anyway.

Yip it is. Im thinking the same thing. Happened after giving it a boot full, ill check the turbo/intercoller hose tomorrow. That may have slipped off slightly.

If the v7 valve is a STD one you WILL have issues as they dont seat on decell or idle. If it was plumbd back into the intake youd be fine..

Looks like im going to have to plumb it back. The plug in the plumback hole on the intake had come out and was sitting on top pf the block. I cant get it to seal back in now as its in the worst place in the world to get to.

Got it to seal for a bit and problem solved then back to running rough, so new hose for me.

Whats the standard hose from a v7 valve?

you mean diameter or? bout 30-32mm from memory.

on a v7? spring loaded hose clamp onto the bov pipe. it points 180deg opposite to the v5 factory one so not quite sure how its guna work lol. the v7 on ones dont bolt up that nice to the v5 chillers anyway. u shud just get a v5 bov and the loop hose off the top back into the return pipe

Ive got a v7 intercoller as well.

Got it going again properly today. But as above the v7 valve leaks with out the recirc hose. Flicked back to the non-working HKS valve and runs smooth again.

yeah lol thatd be rignt . trademe has thoes bolt on atmo BOV's for like $120 (auction number: 324088649). might not be the best but if your not wanting to spend heaps itd be a mint option. (mates got one on a B4 and a V7 STI and neither of them have had issues yet). I put a GFB one one the V8 STI and its decent az but cost me 350+!! Good luck
