Alarm for my 2001 Legacy

Hey guys,

What alarm systems are you installing in your cars. I was looking at Mongoose, which model do you recommend?

When I get an alarm it will probably be an AVS one, have heard good things about them

Previously, I would've said that you can't go past Dynatron. I've got a 5 star AVS in my WRX and it's the business

Built in turbo timer function is quite handy..!

We have an autowatch 446RLi Premium Remote Car Alarm/Immobiliser installed on our B4 it was installed by a guy from

if the car get pinched they will cover the deductible in replacing the car

I recently had an AVS S5 installed by Paul from VAS which is done through the AVS agent in Auckland. They do a good deal for club members. Install was well done, well hidden and very clean. He tied all of the wires into the existing loom making it hard for the thief to figure out.

Happy with it so far and car has not gone missing.

I have heard some not so good things about Mongoose.

I had a dynatron in a BMW I had and I liked it. Simple remote, no false alarms, but then bmws are not really targeted the same was Subarus are.

From all the research I did before going with AVS I found that Dynatron are toast if the thief gets to the brain quickly, Mongoose are close behind but the AVS has one imobilizer that is tricky to bridge.

If you want overkill go for one of the South African produced alarm brands.

yeah it really depends on the installer ay, there are some fu*ken monkeys out there; just slap it in quick as possible so they can get back to the shop for after work beers. no care.
