Primary Boost Issues

Hey all

I think that the exhaust butterfly valve is stuck open as I have little to no boost on the primary and I think I can hear the secondary boosting against the intake butterfly valve (theres wooshing air sound when on the primary which disappears when I hit the second!!).

Does anyone know where the exhaust valve is or could it be something more serious??

Well have a look and see if the valve is actually stuck a wee bit open. I imagine you'd get 66 or a similar code if it was. And how's boost on secondary? You have a boost gauge right?

The only boost guage I have is my right foot... And that all I need ;D

Yeah the secondary does boost, just having a bit of difficultly finding the exhaust valve.

I would imagine that it would remain a wee bit normally?? As when I pulled off the intercooler, I saw the intake valve is remaining a wee bit open as well .

AFIAK they stay completely closed, then open a bit to pre spool the secondary before you hit vod, vod is when it goes from a little bit to fully open.

There's also a chance the primary wastegate isn't working right, i imagine that would have similar symptoms. i'e, low boost on primary, but pretty normal / laggy on secondary.

And a boost gauge is REALLY an essential gauge in a turbo'd car, i highly recommend you go out and get one soon, it can really show you what the turbo's are doing allot better than the butt dyno can.
