Electronic boost controllers

Hey guys I have a v7 sti with a 3inch exhaust from the turbo back,I had a issue with turbo spiking ( hitting 1.3 to 1.4 bar ) and put a boost tee on to bring it back to 1.2 for now. I'm getting the ecu reflashed soon and was thinking of getting a ebc to sort out the spiking and bring on the boost quicker and be more stable.What are your thoughts ??should i get another factory solanoid or a aftermarket electronic boost controller or keep the turbosmart boost tee and tune it with that, any thoughts would be great.??

Its interesting you should mention this as if you go onto STM's website they strongly suggest an aftermarket boost controler be fitted along with any ECU remap or aftermarket parts. They dont however suggest this for the evo equivilent mods which seems to suggest that the subies have some boost fluctuation when you start to mod them.

a subaru is allways going to get some sort of boost spike issue when u change the exhaust and downpipe to a high flowing item...as the boost solinoid is setup to run with the standard not so good flowing downpipe (boost comes on slower...easier to controll) where as u fit the downpipe the boost is going to come on alot more rapid and the controller wont keep up with it....

like i said best thing to do is either an external wastegate and or a electronic boost controller

It's the dam 2 port bleed solenoid which tuners don't like as it's a pain to get boost right with them on the v7 ecu

Took me atleast a dozen runs to get a proper boost curve on the factory solenoid

Tbh an aftermarket one is way easier to setup

Electronic ones that have a proper solenoid are way better at buldin and keeping boost

For Ppl on a low as budget a t does 99 percent of the job as far as boost control for a fraction of the cost

A good quality t usually has little issues likethe cheap ones

Kinda depends how deep u pockets are in many instances

1.4 isnt as bad as my one which is 1.5 to 1.6 this only happens on 5th and 6th, somehow it think its on load or something... yeah getting my one reflash soon probably at speedtech... dont know yet depending on where i am at the time?

On a stock setup if pill size is larger it will not spike but then it will start underboosting from the target figure

edit:

smaller pill will spike

larger pill will underboost/lag

In a fully stock setup spiking maybe solenoid issue if nothing else is changed at all

Or leaks in stock hoses or loose hoses type situation

Can't think of many other reasons why Wud spike on stock setup

no no ur right :)

a smaller pill will spike and larger pill will underboost

lol thats what happes when u type and not pay attention and think something else (daydreamer syndrome :-[)

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
