MAF Sensor Problems...

Brought up the fault codes on My '97 v3 WRX STi and got 23 - Maf sensor fault. It's been doing this weird thing where occasionally i'll start it up and it will idle at around 1100rpm until i turn it off leave it and come back and drive it later... Also makes a winding down ticking noise for a few seconds when i turn it off...?? Car has a well used k&N pod filter, just wondering if anybody has had this problem, how to fix it etc, how much ill be looking at if i do need a new sensor, and if anybody has a factory air filter box, i'm presuming pod filters kill the maf faster than an original box would? Cheers, any help at all is much appreciated!!

The winding noise could be the turbo winding down

Few Ppl here Inc me have that noise. Dos not seem to affect performance so j guess don't worry

Knn filter is usually oiled type and it's the oil that kills the maf

Perhaps remove the Knn and put a foam type for now

For Maf umm try Crc Maf cleaner. Have heard 50/50 positive on it so hopefully that can solve ur issue n at least it's not as xpensive as a new maf

Reset ecu - battery of for half hour to an hour ought to reset it

Failing the Maf cleaner, there is a threa here on how to resolder the Maf joints as on thT model they seem to suffer from a case of dry joints. If u handy with a soldering iron then it may be the next step

Hmmm as a test if u cN trCk down a club member on ur area u can swap afm and see if makes a difference before buying a new Maf ay bro

Definitely not the turbo its never done it before and would be unhealthy as hell if it was. Sweet that would explain, came with the car, never been a fan of them, really hoping someone has an original airbox... Heres hoping the crc works then! And also shouldnt/couldn't i just reset the ecu error codes by plugging the green wires under steering column together, driving over 12kmph etc etc instead...? Cheers.

bro whining when u turn the car off is normal for VF23s and VF22s...theres a thread on here about it which i started and everyone on here with a vf22 or 23 has the same whine...even mine does

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
