filter in the guard mod

Hey guys,

Seen this around quite a bit now people extending the intake pipe from the turbo and sending it into the guard?

Just mainly wanting to know does it have any negative performance with the pipe being slightly longer.

Iv noticed that having a pod filter in the standard spot gets wet when it rains/washign the car.

cheers in advance guys.

If you want to separate the area from the filter to the engine, then you can either do that, or build a cold air box around where the pod filter sits in it's normal position. I think doing this would bring just as much gain as moving it into the guard.

yeah i was going to make a cold air box (still might),

But then thought about the guard idea which seems easy with out making a box and having to move things etc.also the gaurd basically is the "cold air box" i just need to make some duct tunnels.

so im a little stumped in what way i should go..

would it say be colder in the guard as opposed to being in the engne bay even with a cold air box...

Im hoping to do it this weekend so thought id get everyones thoughts on what way to go.

Cheers Dan

Id make a cold air box or even use the std one and pipe it in from a cold DRY area in the guard. I see cars with pods sticking out or bumpers and stuck n guards and wonder if they can ever drive in the rain or through a puddle without hydraulicing the engine.

Ive driven in quite intense rain when aucklands weather was sh!t not too long ago..still managed to stay dry. But yea as mentioned above..make sure the pod is in an area that will not get water attracted to it even if it was water being dispersed off the tyre on a wet road

hmm yeah water is a big issue as it seems to find its way everywhere..

Maybe i will make a perspex cold air box and put it in the factory place atleast i know itl be dry,

In ways of dimensions i see alota people almost do a whole side pannel style cold air box. if i go for making a cold air box im wanting to make compact and sealed (except for my air intake hole) if its only X amount bigger then the poddy itself.Would that be a problem?

im new to making a custom box...

cheers

yeah I've run this setup before with the pod in the guard. It certainly keeps the engine heat well away from the poddy. Water is ur enemy under the guard but once again there are things that u can do to keep the water out. You will have increased piping length if u put it in the guard but i didn't really notice this affecting performance

I've since gone back to a poddy in the engine bay with heatshield and ram air setup thru the driver side spottie..

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
