I am currently running oil feed and return hoses to my new turbo and noticed the turbo isnt water cooled. what do i do with water feed pipe coming out of the head? do i just blank it off or do i have to loop it back into the header tank?

Earlier on this site there was a discussion regarding the water pipes found on OE Subaru Turbo setups.

Basically the water pipes are there for Turbo Longevity (if shut off hot, coolant will circulate to cool as the engine oil will not)

Not sure if that answers your question.

Why's that? Many good turbos arn't water cooled, I wouldn't take the water cooling away from a garrett gt turbo though Mmmm plastic bearing cages. I don't know what the vf ones are like but i'm sure Murch would know.

All oil only turbos need is a little cool down time befor switching off to get the heat down so the oil dosn't turn to custard in them when switched off.

Vf turbos have plastic bearing cages as well, although Steve Murch does an up grade to a bronze cage. I like ronin's idea of having a seprate turbo water cooling system set up, stops all that hot water getting fed back into the heads.

Hmmm lets see, i would run the turbo water cooled if i could. But its a brand new master-power t-70 which isn't water cooled so that puts paid to that. And i have beefed up the oil cooling considerably, so fingers crossed i won't have any trouble with cooling there. the reason i asked that question is i remember someone asking on here a while ago about blanking of the heater hoses as they wern't going to run a heater and someones reply was that you had to bridge or loop it rather than blocking it off. all i was concerned about was wether the same applied to the turbo cooling side of things.

Heater core hose's must be looped if removed

Turbo cooling hose's just join together is easiest, ie out of head to surge tank all good

All good with decent oil cooled turbo, I miss read your post thinking you where removing the water cooling, My bad :P

haha all good. it was a bit misleading now i read it. all blocked off now. amazing how much useful info i have gathered off here. Now while on the subject of cooling, there are two pipes that come off the water pump and run up the front of the motor. One plumbs into a heater hose, where does the other go? onto the bottom of the header tank? its been 18months since i pulled the motor out and the memory is a bit scratchy haha.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
