What do these do?

hey i have a 98 bg5 gtb auto just want to know what these to buttons 2.i have been told the hold button puts it into snow mode if so what is it doing different?and what does the other button do?

snow button makes easier to drive in snow - ie stops slipping of wheels etc

What it's doing different, is that it's not using first gear. The hold A/T (all terrain) button locks out first so that the driving wheels get less torque, and the torque will be more "even". It's harder to spin your wheels in a bigger gear. Good for when you need a little more traction.

And as the others say, the "windscreen wiper" button is a front window heater. Good for melting wiper blades if left going for too long ;D

I have a 96' BG5 GTB auto and that 'hold' button works differently for me - all it does is 'hold' the gear.

So if I chuck it in 1st it will engage 1st gear - chucking in 2nd will engage 2nd gear and 'hold' it there - I can slam my foot down at 35-45km/hr and it won't kick down into 1st gear (same with 3rd). If it's in D it seems to alternate between 3rd/4th although it depends on speed.

There's a heater in the glass - similar to the rear window demister, but down the bottom behind the black paint. If you ever have a windscreen replacement on a Legacy they'll usually ask whether you need heated or not.

Yea i will give that heater a try next time i get some frost on window to see if it does work.as for the hold button i going to give that a go 2morrow and see if mines the same i never really fuked with it befor i just never really knew what it done i gess il find out
