2000 B4 Legacy Idle Control Valve Trouble

I own a manual 2000 B4 Legacy - great car most of the time however whenever I start it the check engine light comes on and the car runs like a piece with no power and hops up the road coughing and spluttering kind of thing. After driving it for about ten minutes it usually comes right. Got the codes from the car and it said it was the idle control valve - so I replaced it and the same thing still fricken happens! Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it or what other part it could relate to? I am about to drive the car I love off a cliff.

Hmm thats what i thought. I have a 2001 B4, would it be different on the Facelift ones? Mine certainly isnt on the strut tower

if its a B4, the filter should be in the fuel-tank...

In tank filter, make sure tank is under 1/2 full when you remove pump /filter assembly

Replace filter and O'rings

With idle valve coming up in trouble codes (these very rarely fail)

Your issue is more than likely the Throttle sensor, best to get the output of the sensor checked

before just going in and replacing it.

Have found a closed setting of 0.44 -0.46v works better than 0.50
