lol the fact if its a wrx motor won't make the air fuel ratio richer ? how do you under stand that . . . .it could be STI motor can't really tell just by looking at the head gasket part i can see . the only thing the wrx motor would do over the STI motor is be more prone to det

its possible that i didn't get the air out when i bled it ? has been driven allot and doesn't over heat. doesn't use water. doesn't smoke . no oil in water or vice versa . no milk in cap or in rocker breathers. no after boiling . hoses aren't over pressurized after a hour drive . . . i think it may be all right . . any thing else i should be checking

yes it need to be spotless! if its had an overheat it wouldn't hurt to get the heads and block half's decked encase of warpage but you could wing it.

its abit hard with the head locators but a big sheet of wet and wry sandpaper and a big sanding block is what i used during one of my rebuilds to clean the crap of. gasket stripper would leave a residue ?

i even usedb] copper gasket spray on the headgaskets[/b] to try help them seal dont know if it helped tho as the motor died from running lean not to long after the rebuild (you live and learn ::) )

I swear by this I use it on every headgasket/waterpump/Gasket i do, cant do any harm and may do some good :)

nice im glad some others do to .... didn't want to start a riot :D

lol talk about head gasket storys. back when i was a call out diesel mechanic i had a head gasket job in the bush middle of no where. john deer harvester had lunched the head gasket and they kept using it . . these have huge turbos with no waste gate straight free boost. got the head off and the head cleaned up ok. the cast block how ever had huge pits in it from the water eating away at it. cleaned it up. used a fair few coats of the copper stuff. slapped it all back in . still going strong to this day. i for one know that stuff is good Shit !

I had the same problem on one of my motors. Under all normal conditions the engine ran fine, came up to temp with no bubbles and was thoroughly bled without issue.

However, 3-4 minutes into a stage it would start to overheat and then it was all over. So sometimes I think they leak just enough that its not an issue until you give them beans for an extended period of time. Either way, probably worth doing the gaskets just in case.

i just replaced the engine oil. no water in it. checked all breathers have no milk or water residue. replaced spark plugs and all are burning fine . no signs off burning coolant. still hasn't used any water and been driven around 150km since the over heat. have given it 20 Pound boost and it didn't push any water out and the hoses weren't bulging straight after. all seems fine . . i think i will use the head gasket and head bolts on my STI motor in the shed .

quick test for h/g's

Drive car hard from 0-100k giving it plenty of boost, back of to low sped

repeat process 5 times

Pull over -leave cap on- and check for bubbles in coolant overflow tank

combustion pressure = 150+psi , coolant pressure =15psi (on average)

So easiest way to find leak is combustion into coolant

hey mate was yours over heating due to pushing the coolant out the over flow

Nope, no visible signs it was overheating at all. Just the temp soared after a fair bit of abuse. I am not talking a couple of runs at full throttle. I am talking constant full throttle for 3-4 mins in a rally before it would overheat.

done test . stopped straight after pulling 20 Pound to red line .no bubbles. hoses normal. not pushing water out .showing no signs. to the other guy. how did it over heat without losing water or pushing it out ?

heater core is by passed . . as my waste gate set up sits far to close to the heater hose on the fire wall. will be reconnecting once i have made a sheild and have heat reflective hose etc. Im pretty sure i turned motor off before it got to top of gauge when the water dropped

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
