Help on buying 96 Wrx

Hey guyz just wanted your opinions on this wrx. reliability and power levels im am a bit worried about the amount of ks its done 166,000. it is quite a weird one im not to keen on the interior or the two tonne paint or the massive pink wrx sticker lol but it is cheap and i need a car (just sold my Gtb) or should i save more and buy a better wrx?

I'd say find a better one.

Thats a basic model that one, with about 220hp, its based on version 2, but has non WRX seats, it came out as a "gravel Express" model, they had a spare tyre attached to the back of the hatch.

i suggest you get a 1997 Model at least, (to make sure its version 3 or newer) as you can get these cheap aswell nowdays.

The sedans have more power than the Wagons in all WRX models (excluding STI and MY01 etc).

looks to me to be a gravel express thats been made more like a regular WRX wagon.

Doesnt look to have been overly molested, and 166kms is not that high now for that year.

As the guy said, id look for an STi wagon, version 3+ if you have your heart set on a wagon

for 6-7k I'd go for a verson 3 non sti Sedan (jap import model) pick one that comes with yellow injectors, orange AFM and VF22 turbo.. this model comes with 280ps /276hp

I purchased one like that for $5263 off trademe not long ago with 136,000ks on it, from a $1 res auction on trademe.

As for blowing up.. thats a tricky one.. i've had 3x wrx's, none have ever played up on me mechanically.. (other than a gearbox). its the luck of the draw so to speak

well im guesing it cant be any worse than a Gtb motor they are notourious for doing big ends and all that. i just want to know how strong these type of ej20 motors are i usually give cars quite a bit of shit but still maintain them really well.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
