1999 RSK possible overboosting

hey guys i own a 1999 RSK which has got a few problems

one of the problems it i think it is over boosting i have had a wee look around and have found a vacuum leak, not to sure where it is leaking from exactly, but when i block the hose that is T'd onto the waste gate hose, it almost dies and brings itself back up.

i also temporarily installed a after market BOV, i took it for a boost and did not hear any noise what so ever. i then suspected that hose again and clamped it shut then took it for a boost and preformed perfectly.

dont know what to do lol any advise would be gratefull

its going in tomorrow morning to get looked at by the monkeys at armstrong only because the stuffed it up last time and this one is on the house.

one of the mechanics said its normal for a vacuum hose to breath, and i should drive it normally... im pretty sure a vacuum hose should not be able to breath at all lol.

just been reading up the twin turbo operation in the subys and found out the line that is breathing does go to the wasegate control valve

got it back from the mechanic and they said it was only at 10.9psi, and also said its ok to install a SSQ BOV if you block that breathing hose i was talking about earlier. so i did and now its running 15 to 16 psi, is the engine going to last long on that? any ideas how i could get t down if i needed to without removing the new BOV

Is that 15-16 psi on the secondary stage? thats still in the normal range if so. Is the car running a stock exhaust system?

yep second stage, first is around 10/11psi. stock exhaust system too

so just a leaky BOV then in the end

the ssq bov wont have raised your boost by itself , the old one MUST had been leaking

it kind of was, i did take the plumb back system off it while i was testing, it did leak between the turbos but not anywhere else, i just find it strange the way it was plumbed, having the bov on a free breathing line.

just reinstalled my factory bov, it kept on stalling the first turbo

any ideas on what type of bov i can put on that does not effect this?

haVE A LOOK at my posts for my bh legacy for sale see where the pipes are going same motor as your rsk. its got a blitz bov on it

it kind of was, but i just ignore the stalling and just waited for the second to kick in

and resurrection.inc, thats how mine is plumbed apart from the T intersection at going to your bov, i have to clamp that otherwise my bov wont work

figured out what was wrong, when i replaced this section of hose, i realised there is a brass restrictor in the old hose... after i threw it out lol

primary turbos dont like that much boost - I'd be winding it back ASAP !

yea im going to pull it back to 13 or 14psi to play it safe

I thought my primary was boosting too high and its only doing 11-12psi

yep lol. have you done this mod to yours?

no aparently its standard on the be in the uk its only the wagon (bh) that u can change to be the same. mine already runs 11/12 or so on primary and 17 on secondary. i think its because i have renewed all my vac hoses with 4 mm. All my old old hoses were so fucked. im either going to sell it or single turbo it next year.

nice, i have put a restrictor on the 10 hose before it dumps the air, so hopefully i can fine tune it to run lower boost

Did you get black 4mm Hosing? Im thinking of doing this too. How much did it cost for the hoses and what length did you buy to do everything? TIA

hey ya i used ebay and i think it was sent from hong kong took 7 days and i ordered

6 meter of 4mm (prob need another meter or so)

2 meter of 8mm

i used about a meter of it to do my boost gauge as well so was a lil short with lines running behind intercoller and as you can see it pic i used pretty blue stuff.

total cost was $39 nz lol cant buy that over here for that price

tl:dr mine overboost/spiked and was a slip hose on top of the intake, the shortest of the 3 wee hoses

Is this the stuff you ordered?? Is there something in the lines as well? Im sure I have seen it posted about something that lets it flow one way but not the other? Can I take these out of the other hoses?
