external wastegate help

hey guys just wondering if anyone could help me with my problem,just had new motor put into my forester,hooked up my external wastegate the exact same way and it still wont go off,the car overboosts and then boost cut,i changed the wastegate with another one but still the same,would anyone know the problem??

tis not opening - u got the hose on the bottom port ? if its on the top port it will do exactly as u decribed

Yep

If it's single hose to wg then needs to be on the bottom port only

Try running hose straight from turbo nipple to the bottom nipple on the wg and that should be wg pressure

wheres the other end of the hose ? if u run from the turbo straight to the bottom port on the gate and have the top port open (if its blocked it wont open) then the gate will open on spring pressure

hose is running from the turbo nipple of the vf22 straight to the bottom port of the wastegate,the top nipple and screw have been removed

the gate opens when hand pressure is applied to it,it has a 14psi spring,the gate has been checked over its all good and the bag is like new

Did it open fine on the 14psi spring before or have u Changed the spring during engine swap

Perhaps try. Softer spring as a test....

The plumbing sounds right the way u hVe done

This i doubt.... but check the hose for blockages? try a new piece of hose?

Or does that bottom nipple on the wg have anything blocking it?

is the w/gate diaphragm leaking/perished maybe?

if urv pulled it apart u might have ripped / pinched the diaphram causing the boost to bypass the chamber and excape out the top - this would cause it to not open - if the diaphram is perfect and top port is not blocked then by putting air into the bottom port WILL open it

here u go - got access to a air compressor? blow compressed air into bottom port - this should open the gate to proove the gate is working good

and are u saying u can phsically push the gate open by hand ? FARKKKK u must be the HULK man i cant even push a gate open with a 8psi spring

haha yeah bro with the 14psi spring lol so i changed the hose today and and the gates kicking in now but it doesnt fully scream,it screams an pops and cuts,thats what it was doing before with my other gate so i know its not the gate,my mate said he saw a little hole on the intake pipe,could that be it??

what boost you running ? a external wastegate wont open if the turbos not actually making enough boost to open it - so if its only making fuck all pressure it will only slightly open (not scream so loud)

hard to explain - but basically when talking atmo venting gates - to make it loud the engine has to be running efficiently

its running maybe 12psi bro,if u want come for a look,me an my mate tried everything,gate screams abit then pop pop scream pop and its like boost cutting

got a leak somewhere? a leak will cause the maf to read wrong which causes all sorts of issues

oh yip thats what weve come down to,that its a leak somewhere,now gotta try find it lol
