Help with BG5 legacy towbar wiring please

Hi guys,

I'm in the process of wiring up a trailer connection plug to our BG5 Legacy and am having some trouble, hoping someone can help me out please.

I've tracked down some wiring diagrams, but when looking at the lighting connections going into the right side tail lamp assembly I can't find the wiring I need for the left indicator.

Here are some photos to help:

I purchased the wiring parts individually from Partsmaster (for half the price of Supercheap Auto!) so am using these connectors to attach new wiring to old:

Here is a shot of the trailer connection wiring cable, showing the five color wires I have to work with green, yellow, brown, red, black:

I wired up my Impreza for a towbar connection last year & that was relatively more easy for some reason.

If anyone can help I'd be much appreciated!

hrmm, don't have one of those so might give it a bash & test on a trailer when I'm done, worked OK last time.

pop a bulb out of brake light + piece of wire = test light

Any towbars i have fitted in the past i have always run a seperate wire off to the other tail light for the indicator.

Ok, so I've run a wire across and into the left indicator, checked with a multimeter & it works.

Now I only have four left to do, however the brown wire is confusing me, as it says it is "rear lamps, clearance & side marker lamps" pin number: 7 what on earth do I connect this into??

Also, pin 5 is labelled service brakes (blue) just confirming this is brake light & not rear tail lights?

Any ideas?

All wired up now, hooking into the tail lights was a mission, as it is located in the tailgate fascia away from the tail light cluster - I traced the wire back & *think* i got it right, will borrow a trailer to test as soon as possible.

Thanks to everyone for your comments, I really appreciate your help! Hope I can return the favour if anyone needs renovation or new house plan advice.

Blue is not used....only for electric brakes etc. Black not required either.

Brown is park/tail

White is earth

Yellow is Left

Green is right

Red is brake
