DIY paint job

Looking at respraying my car in the xmas break but wanting to know if anyone can recommend a type of compressor to buy.

There are some compressors on trademe worth a couple hundred with 2Hp and 40ish ltr tanks is this enough to do a full spray on a car?

Not even close if you want a decent job. The bigger the tank the better.

On a small tank you have to wait between passes for the tank to regain pressure.

It will not only take you all day to do but will impact on finish of the paint also.

Also the belt driven ones are alot more efficient. They can generally fill the tank quicker and dont need to be

running full tit the whole time.

Low pressure high volume. Its all about the gun mate.

You will need at last 2.5HP compressor. buy the gun first and get a compressor that will cover the free air delivery requirement.

if you are going for a good finish you will want to spend about 200 on gun and 300 on compressor. Don't forget to use an air dryer/water trap

Don't use a hose that you have used an automatic oiler on either
