cooling fan location

im fitting a aftermarket cooling fan is there any pros or cons on having the fan mounted on the front of radaitor? have checked that its spinning the right way too

Have you checked its pushing air back into the radiator as oposed to pulling it?

It will work but its no where near as efficient as the factory setup. Are you upgrading to a alloy radiator and worried about space?

yer have gone to alloy rad and front facing intake std fan sits way to close to pullys the aftermarket fan will fit nice in its place but there is also room for it infront of rad between the rad and intercooler

If the aftermarket one fits ok then I would keep it fitted in the factory place.

If you absolutely must fit it to the front then just make dead sure its pushing so its not fighting the wind resistance.

depending on the shape of the blade (angle) makes a lot of difference when talking push or pull -

example - a air con fan on a skyline is a push fan - the suby fans are pull - if ya look at the blades they are different - the skyline fan sucks at pulling and the suby ones suck at pushing - yes flip the polarities and make it spin the other way and yes it can do it - but its not as efficient as it should be

even when using the correct fans i have found pulling fans are more efficient thant pshing fans for radiators

basically if it fits on the back - do it - if it doesnt than u sort of have to have it pushing - been there done that

Pretty much what i was getting at you just said it was better.

Its like a house fan. They are shaped to optimise the way they push the air. Reversing the direction of the spin will suck the air through but if you put your hand round the back chances are its not gonna be as strong as it was at the front.

you will find that most aftermarket fans can be either PUSH or PULL but it requires the reversal of the fan as well as wiring it to go backwards

i have both, one on the back and one on front but they are offset, couldnnt quite fit them both on the same side

but my radiator is tiny lol.
