running in a built engine

hey had some query's

i am currently rebuilding my engine and going to be using forged je pistons with a compression ratio of 8.5:1 with eagle rods and subaru bearings. my query being since its a 98 v4 wrx which runs on grey injectors was wondering if you all would reckon that would be safe for running in the block and then getting it tuned or get a tune for it for the running in period since i have standalone ecu which is a link g4. i was originally planning on running in the block with the stock ecu and injectors and then after the running in getting it a tune with a larger turbo and injectors.

what would you guys suggest for me to do and your experience would also help.

If it was me i'd run it in on the factory ecu with factory injectors and only run wastegate pressure (7psi). Once its run in swap everything over and get it tuned.

If its running too rich while running it in you can do more harm than good.

But in saying that, my engine is going to be set up as I intend it to be run full time, I'll be getting it run in on the dyno and then a full tune. But i've changed too much stuff to be able to run my factory ecu and injectors

+1 you do not want too much fuel to wash the bores or to much timing, dont use a synthethic oil and i have reved it to 4500rpm and wastegate pressure for up to 1000km, when the cars oil is up to temp drive it like you stole it up to the limits and that will seat the rings well.

thanks for the reply

my engine is pretty much stock except for the short block. i was originally running a td05h but blew the water seals on it when a hose popped and took out the headgasket as well. so i am gona be running the stock td04 turbo for the running in period. my only problem i faced was since i run a apexi gt spec intercooler i found the car running a bit rich due to the fact its still running a maf sensor and that was was only worry, do you guys reckon that would be ok for the running in period?

yea was thinking of running sae30 w oil for the running in and then switching over to a synthetic blend after the run in period. that does sound like a good idea of running it of waste gate pressure will do that just to be safe.

i'd get a run in tune done on the link. alot of the setup that will be done would need to be done any way on the power tune, so it's not like you'll be doubling up too much on the bill

go for long drives only, to get as many k's on it as possible with minimal start ups. don't nana it, but don't rape it either. check water and oil every time you drive it. don't let the RPM sit at the same point.

another major query i had was bleeding the cooling system how do you guys bleed the cooling system in this case?

sorry first time i am going with such a build hence had these querys

I normally jack the car up and have it sitting on stands so that the front of the car is sitting higher then i let the car idle for a while, giving some revs every now and then and watching the water level. Also i have a particular way of filling it up which also help remove the bubbles

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
