What should oil pressure gauge read and what are some reasonable priced gauges?

Hi guys am wanting to buy an oil pressure gauge for my car and am just wondering what are some reasonably priced brands which are proven to work and also what should the gauge read once installed. Gauge is to go in a v7 sti. Also do I need just the gauge or also an oil Pressure sender or is there some sort of factory item to tee into. Thanks

You'll need a sandwich plate to install the sensors, which goes where your oil filter goes. So good to do an oil change and filter change at the same time. Can't remember what readings I got on mine, but I had the Defi STi gauges. So yeah, you need everything, not just the gauge itself.

you can install the sender units into one of the spare ports on the block, i got a mechanic to do mine, took him about half hour.

readings vary on how hot the oil is, mine is about 20psi at idle when hot.

oh and i run autogauge smoked series gauges, oil pressure, oil temp and boost, all have worked well for the last 2 years i've had them, they can be hard to see in the sun tho!

on my suby i used the spare port under the intake plenum - not sure if its the same on a ver 7 but on early blocks theres a blank plug under the manifold near the turbo - u use another adaptor like whats on the oil pressure sender

depending on oil weight and temperature you will get different readings

basically it should be linear with revs untill the oil pressure goes high enough to push the releif valve open
