Help Please

Hi All,

Recently while driving it feels like every so often my car is towing a trailer so i have to put my foot down then all of a sudden it's fine.

I suspect it may be the airflow meter going, i have tried crc mass airflow cleaning stuff on it but still no luck also the spark plugs were changed not so long ago. oil is all good so i'm not sure what it could be.

Wondering if anyone has a wrx 96 spare air flow meter i can try just to test to see if that fixes the problem, it's pretty easy to replicate.

I live in Auckland so would be good if i could pop over to someone's house to test it out so i know whether i need to get a replacement

this is only speculation this is the problem but checking things of the list

ya only need to post once wrxman . is your ecu storing any cell's or ecu codes ?

last time the engine light came on it was it flashed the O2 sensor, but i doubt that would have anything to do with the slow down, at most it would run richer and use more fuel.

I have not checked it lately. I'll check it tonight

What colour is it man? Is it the type that sits on the intake pipe on these? If it is green I will unplug mine and you can give it a quick drive, otherwise my other Subaru has an orange one and I have a purple one somewhere too.

i had the exact symtoms you decribe in my wagon and a new o2 sensor fixed the problem . it effects the car at cruising speeds.

if the afm trial does nothing then deff replace the o2

thanks, anyone know where i can get an o2 sensor dirt cheap?

dont go cheep on it . get a decent bosh one because ive heard of there being problem with cheep ones not reacting fast enough and not solving the problem.

i got mine off a user on here that had a few he may still but ill have to do a search
