McIntosh parts needed

Hey all,

In my 'new' car I just got, the previous owner removed the McIntosh gear and cut the plugs off the wiring looms for the radio and amplifier

I have the radio and amp, just need the plugs

Anyone got them spare and not needed - will pay a little bit if it helps your decisions

Would even look at a second-hand headunit and amp too, in case this ones dead

Or is it just easier to hook in an aftermarket one and get a pocket for underneath?

Depends on whether you want audiophile sound quality, if yes then just go aftermarket and install your own amp sub etc etc. If you aren't particularly bothered, mcintosh is fine, seeing as its been removed though,you may as well go decent afteermarket brands, soundstream, pioneer, fusion are known to work, and be cheap.

You could probably just wire up some new plugs if you were really keen to reinstall the old system.

Obviously you'd need to get the right configuration and current rating for audio, but may be worth it if you want to reinstall.

If you have a sub/amp in the boot and a highpass crossover on your headunit you can easily get away with ignoring the McIntosh amp and just powering the speakers off your headunit - doing that at the moment and it sounds better than my old aftermarket setup

I got plugs from Pick A Part Lower Hutt last week

All installed and working mint!
