06 Legacy- Modifying the centre AV Panel

Hi guys,

I've read all the stickied threads etc, now just wanting to confirm some specific details for my model and ask your opinion.

This is my centre console currently:

What I definitely need to do is rip out the stock stereo, so I will be needing this?

And I think that I want to put one of these in there:

I'm really wondering what to do with the top bit by the air vents. I wouldn't mind putting in one of these navigation systems:

Would this plug straight into the original GPS?

Would it look stupid having two big screens in the centre console?

Does anyone else have a similar setup and have pics?

If I did do that, would I need this part or this part? I'm not sure what the difference is.

What other options are there for that navigation slot? I've seen some American models with a closed pocket there which looks quite nice, does anyone know where to buy these? I really dont like the open pocket I have currently.

Hey, regarding the stereo yes that's what you'll need if you want to replace with an aftermarket one. Think they're worth about $500 from what I've seen, give or take.

As for your bit between the vents, that's an interesting setup, never seen that before. What is that slot for? You could also put one of these in if you just want an extra compartment:

Ah thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for.

No idea, it seems to be for holding CD's, but doesn't fit very well. Its probably for a different car.

It'd be great to see if someone else has a two screen setup, to make sure it doesnt look stupid, otherwise I'll just get that pocket.

ive just managed to score my self a double din stereo unit. You may be able to score one second hand like i did
