Gull Force 10 vs BP Ultimate 98

Assuming your car is OK for Ethanol blended fuels, which is better - Gull Force 10 or BP Ultimate 98? Anybody done any tuning on both, or even better, dyno comparisons?

I've read on some forums you can get an extra 2-3 degrees timing on Gull Force 10, but you need to tune to the fuel...

I was told told by my mechanic that the tuner he uses said he got the best dyno results out of force 10. I am assuming it was Dave at Dtech in tga, cause thats who he sent my car to. But I could be wrong. If i remember, i shall ask when i pick my car up.

I got warned against getting my car tuned for force 10. They reported that the batches were a little inconsistent compared to normal fuel.

thing is ethanol doesnt have as much energy in it per pound as petrol, so you need more of it for any given volume of air. but its got a better knock resistance so you can roll in abit more timing. apples and oranges

on my stagea i got an extra 8kws on force 10.

but the thing i get told is that rubber seals dont last long nor do paper gaskets.

I have also been told that it has produced some good dyno results on cars.

Also that its alot better than when it first came out.

I read somewhere that as the nz rally championship now use pump fuel they tested all the pump fuels.

Gull E10 was the best but higher fuel consumption.

Correct. Especially cause of the amount of boost and timing that the engine's can take with Force 10 over normal 98 octane fuel.

so running e10 with a 98 tune will result in leaner mixtures but that won't matter because of more knock resistance?

Depends entirely on how much of a "knifeedge" tune you've got.......

Wouldn't take it for granted that it'd be fine and its easy enough to get a power run done on a dyno with Knock Detection setup to make sure.

Only if you want to live dangerously. Have it dynoed and check mixtures/knock Common sense really.

I have a wideband O2 sensor... is the stock knock sensor not really up to the task of tuning? not that I intend to try tuning it myself, but just to see if it's safe.

Really need headphones to be able to listen for knock. You can make knock sensor equipment pretty cheaply, often just a small amplifier circuit from jaycar and possibly with a couple of filters on it.

Or you can buy something like a KnockBlock from Link.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
