FMIC to TMIC

Probably ditching my Hdi FMIC and going to a V7/8 sti TMIC, wondering if anyone has done anything similar.

Car is currently tuned on a g4 and will be retuned on the swap over, wonding if I'll lose much power/torque.

Currently running 240kw atw and 20psi

we had slight det issues due to intake temps after 225kw on pump gas and chinese turbo..

same setup with fmic and similar tune on a fmic made 235kw...

thats a stock setup + exhaust and chinese turbo being the only mods and tuned on the safer side of things...

was that retuned for the power or just running a stock ecu/tune?

is that on your v7 and the stock top mount?

My temps went up massively from 190kw to 200kw on V4 STI top mount. (On the dyno, with the big fan, and the hood up, which is all probably not directing air efficiently at the top mount.) (And it may have been that the VF34 was exiting its efficient island :\ )

we tuned it more on the safer side of things rather than oughtright power...

could have possibly made more but kept it rather safe..

Would have been because of the bonnet being up... air flowing across the top of the intercooler wouldn't do s***, basically relying on convection to cool it.

Anyone know what sort of TMIC Simon C was running? He got some quite good power out of it IIRC.

In my opinion a high quality TMIC is going to cool at least as well as a cheap FMIC. Venturi effect means that with the scoop in place you get a surprising amount of airflow - look at NASCAR bumpers and their cooling setups.

Id stick with the front mount, i also had issues with heat running a top mount.
