What turbo?

hey some help would be awesome.

I have an bg gtb legacy nz new and the primary turbo doesn't have much life left, so am looking to replace it,

have heard it's common for this turbo to fail, I don't want to upgrade, would like to keep it as stoke as possible.

First question what are the turbos in the bg ej20tt, i can't find what they are anywhere (I'm probably just shit at searching) guessing they are vf?? somethings and what one is the primary turbo.

Second question, do i just order one through subaru or is there a better one that won't effect my insurance or would be better for the engine, am wanting a new one and don't want more preformance.

you need to have a look on the passenger strut tower to work out what revision BG you have, A B or C. the primary turbos changed depending on revision.

Whats you know that im sure the masses can help with what specific one you have, and how to get a replacement one.

Cheers, also probably should have said its a 98, on the plate, model is bg5c5cd, option is aac. is that what you were talking about or would it be in the engine code, thanks

yup thats it.. BG5 C xxxx is revision C. BG5 b xx or BG5a xxx wound be revision B and A respectively.

with out checking its probly one of vf26/27. and you're right in thinking its a VF, all TT's run VF twin pairs.

they info is here in CS for them somehwere - someone will find it and confirm for you. Im not a TT expert

No, VF26 & 27 weren't introduced until the 3rd generation (BE5/BH5)

Will either be VF18/19 or VF20/21. You can normally read the ID tag on the primary if you clean off all the oil on there and shine a torch on it.
