how to replace rear diff mounts on a 98 Subaru Legacy GTB

I\'m trying to help a mate out - he has a heap of things that need done to his car: pads, rotors, steering rack boot, hand brake tightened, rear diff mounts.

I\'ve sourced all the parts and know how to do all of the above except for the rear diff mounts.

Has anyone ever done this themselves? Is it an impossible 5 banana job for doing at home? Time isn\'t a problem (i.e. if it takes a full day that\'s ok if it avoids a big mechanic\'s bill).

In the ideal world he\'d just take it a garage and swallow the lumpy bill but he\'s skint: he moved away from Auckland to be near his son when his ex moved to the middle of nowhere. Middle of nowhere means no jobs so he\'s retraining = he\'s a skint mature student. Hence I\'m trying to help him get his car road-legal at lowest cost.

Once I know what\'s involved I\'m gonna throw all my tools in the back of my wagon and drive the 6 hours over to his place to do what I can. That\'s how mates roll

I\'ll be taking the usual spanners, ratchets, etc., ... plus 4 jack stands and 2 1/2 ton trolley jack - but won\'t be able to fit in the air-compressor. Any other specific tools I might need?

Really appreciate any advice that you guys can give.

the only tool that might be specific is something to press the bushes into the subframe, other than that your 10/12/14/17/19 ratchet / spanners should be good to go.

So as long as the subframe is held stationey then trolley-jack or floor-jack to push the bushes in?

How long do you think it would take to do?
