What is normal for a Greddy water temperature/pressure gauge - 1999 wrx

Hi there

Today I noticed when warming down the car after about an hours drive the greddy water temperature/pressure (which normally hovers between 80-85) rose up to about 95 after a few minutes idle. I turned it off once it hit 95 yet the normal water temperature gauge in the car on the dash sat at its normal level

Is this normal, im new to these gauges as i notice it also fluctuates up and down 80-90 when i give her a tap and the turbo kicks in and so forth.

Please excuse the ignorance. I will check the coolant and water etc when she cools down later. Just at work haha

hey mate thats a pretty good water temp.my aftermarket water gauge gets to 100C after a hours drive.then fans come on and take it down to 90 or there abouts.i had the same problem a month ago.wait and see if your fans come on.if the factory gauge isnt moving your fine

I checked the coolant. It was smoke tested the other day and all checked out.

It\'s just heat soak bro. It used to do that to me as well, current one does it as well lol.

When it\'s stationary the temps will rise, fans should kick on around 95 then drop back down to 80ish,

edit: when i used to pull up to traffic lights etc, i used to just put the heaters on hot on full blast, takes the temps down almost instantly

On my old type r. I saw the water temp max out at 93 when sitting in traffic. then fans would turn on and take it down to about 85ish.

This was a digital reading from the PowerFC ecu.

Cheers guys. Im a constant gauge watcher. As my mechanic says im the king of the check engine light in my previous subys so I am used to things happening!
