top trade in prices

Ive always wondered. And we all know this \'top trade in prices\' by dealers isnt as cherry topping cheese cake as it sounds. What cars have you taken in for trade in and what condition and how much did you get? Are there any dealers out there that will trade you in your car for anywhere near what it is actually worth?!

Normally about half what you would get privately on TM often less than half.

Had a friend buy a Toyota levin (1.5) for 2.8k, put 20,000 ks on it then sold it to a dealer for 3.5k! Cant see that happening very often though

Shows how overpriced dealers are when you get up to 3k for anything with wheels. I dont see how they make a lot of money. You would really want to be turnin over a few.

Half. Sheesh. Figured as much however. It is a business afterall, just like taking in anything to cash converters who say they give you top dollar. But thats a joke if they did they wouldnt turn a profit i guess

Paid 1.5k for my Calibra, traded it on the Legacy for 3k plus got 2k knocked off the window price. Was a pretty sweet deal i reckon. Doubt i couldve sold that car for any more privately.

Also traded my Suzuki once for a Honda wagon, straight swap at a car yard. Just had to cover grooming and paperwork costs.

levins seem to be able to do that . had a mate of a mate bought one for 900 . matt blacked it . thrashed the fuck out of it for 2 weeks . sold it for 1700

Shouldve said unless its a pos. Uncle had a SP20 had roughly 160km on clock but was immaculate they offered him 3k when everything else on the market was 8-10kish. That was against a 15k n/a airtrek that was hell expensive for a start.
