coils keep blown bc legacy

hey guys to know if any knows why my coils keep goin bad have been through 3 sets this month .iv got a v3 set up that im going to change it too but wanted to know if their is anything contributing to them goin bad .thanks

Heat and old age mate mine kept blowing so change to gtb/wrx coils

if i change to gtb one with three wires will i have to change ignitor

The 3 wire coils have an ignitor built in to them so u make a bridge harness were the old ignitor was

Where you replacing them with new or tested second units ??

i have some coil frm a mates car that he crashed .wat would u recommend change to coils frm legacy or use the v3 setup as i got both ?im gona try find some 2 bolt coils so i can get the car runnin as its my daily and il probly attempt the coil conversion next week .thanks for the help guys

Buy either new or checked second hand, using unknown second hand will always give issues

hey jst brought some good second 2 bolt coils r workin except for cylinder 2 have tryd all the other coils on it an stil it aint firing. i dont have anything to check if t getn power but thats wat i thinks is happen.could the ignitor be bad ?

Have u checked ur spark plugs

yea every time i change coil i change the plugs as i get them really cheap .wat type of plugs should i be using?

Platinum or iridium plugs

Coppers fine some tuners prefer them just means changing them more often. Seems these days people change cars before they need to do an oil change tho.

hey guy today i tried my mates coils frm his rs n it stil misses but wen we put the coils in his car it runs mint .had coil out tested wif a sparkplug n it seems like the spark isnt that strong .could it be the ignitor ?

Had the same problem in my rs. Just pull the plug out. Mine was covered in black shit due to the rich tune. Just used 91 and really fine sand paper to clean it and was mint after that
