Cam belt cost

Hi, my 2000 Outback is at 97k now. How much can I expect to pay to have the cam belt done. And is there anything else I should be getting done at the same time?

Mechanic will assess what further cam belt related parts will be needed.

Depending on when it was last done, you could replace your water pump.

Yep flat 4 2.5 auto. So what would be a rough estimate for a typical job?

i would estimate between $800-$1200 would be fairly normal for the complete job.

As little as $400 right up to $1200 plus.

This is dependent on materials used.

Typically a first cam belt may only require the actual cam belt to be replaced then 2nd time will see the replacement of Tensioners, Seals, Bearings etc which ramps the cost up.

replace everything when doing a cambelt on these engines... if a tensioner has done 100kms what says itl do another 100??? also water pump and cam and crank seals... if you dont it WILL cost you double.

Same as above.

The labour's the pricey bit. Get all the seals and pulleys changed for the extra 200 or so otherwise if they go halfway then you've gotta pay for the full job overagain.

And make sure the oil pump's pulled out and the screws tightened, mine wasn't and a new belt was needed after 10k as it leaked.

I'm in Mt Wellington Auckland. I normally do regular service my self i.e oil, filter etc but I have been to Subtech in Penrose once and found them pretty professional so I might go back there.
