Hiya people,

I've tried searching on the differences between the bc-5 rs and gt ecu's, and i understand that the RS's have an 8-bit ecu and the gt's have a 16-bit ecu...the reason why I am asking is I am looking at buying a link computer out of an rs legacy but I have a GT...I'm wondering if this ecu will run my car fine or if it will infact not work in my car?

Thanks.

You are incorrect on the 8 bit RS and 16 bit GT.

It is generational for both models. Same year/same ECU. The differences were what was written into the programs.

Series 1 = 8 bit

Series 2 = 16 bit

Any 4 plug Link will go straight in regardless.

Hey hi there, I too am interested in finding some info on my ecu's as i have an 89 RS, & 90 GT & have used both ecu's & with 2 type's of chip's in my cars, At the moment i'm running on a RS loom in my GT

C7

22611 AA740

A11-000 RA3

with a modcontrol chip. 4 PLUG ECU

ALso have

C6

22611 AA600

A11-000 RA2

with a chip that was in my GT when i bought it. If any one has some info on these 2 ecu's. THANKS

C7 is an Auto 8 bit code.

C6 is a Manual 8 bit code.

Are both chips 8 bit?

Differences would be negligible, besides Boost control for VF10/VF8 which i would say share the same wastegate spring setting (6psi)

Some would say there is no such thing as a manual GT.

I've seen all sorts of discrepancies.

AFAIK all Wagons were GT's regardless of gearbox

Manual Sedans=RS Auto Sedans=GT

hence my FACTORY Manual Wagon was a GT but had the bigger turbo and manual ECU

but now it is eg33 powered :)

This will confuse you then. My manual GT wagon had a VF-10.

That is true, but dealership parts system confirms VF-10 from the factory.

Would you know what a K3 is for?

this is true, all GT (wagon) came out / should have come out with VF10... i was looking at doing a GT restoration with my mates car so he is doing everything by the book, man trying to used orginal parts is costly these days

Must be a GT specific item rather that 5MT.

K3 is a 16 bit RS ECU.

now that is very interesting, that is what i have currently in my 92 GT... (does that sound right?) because the other ECU i was going to try in it to eliminate some issue is the C6 i have...

but i'm assuming 8 and 16 bit are not going to be transferable? should my non face lift wagon be running a 16 bit ecu (might be my problem right there?)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
