Odd shifter location...?

Put box in the v4 gf8, bolted it all in the correct location with mounts etc in their corrodponding holes, bolted up driveshaft etc etc. Everything fits fine, linkages and correctly done. My problem is that the shifter seems to sit real far back. I have taken some photos of my v4 and my v5 both gf8's.

1st 3 pics are of the v4, going from neutral, 1st then 2nd

2nd 3 pics are the same sequence but in the v5

Check the difference in the shifter location between the 2 cars. Prob something so simple I have meared up but can't seem to figure out what it is...

this is probably irrelevant but I was looking at a slightly different shifter mechanism used in the BE/BH legacy today. where did the box come from?

Just looks like one is short shift and the other is standard?

Have you measured the distance from 1st to 2nd on each one?

Come with a box (TY752VB3CA) seems to be a V2 STi box?

I think you have misread the question. The shift length in the V4 is defiantly shorter than the one in the V5, but as I stated the shifter in the V4 sits a lot further back. For example when the V4 is in 1st gear it sits about where the V5 is in neutral position. So it seems to my the shifter in the V4 is sitting back whatever the distance is from neutral to 1st or 2nd in the V5.

Ohhhhhh I get ya. Yea something doesn't look quite right. My v4 sti shifter in second gear looks like your V4 in neutral

Yer exact same with my V5 hence why I think something is all willy wonkeyed with the shifter in the V4. Just can't put my finger on it.

Maybe shifter assembly has been put back in backwards??
