mechanical limited slip dif, how much?

Im after a mechanical limited slip and was wondering if anyone has one for sale/how much they generally sell for???

for the front that is... are they hard to come by? do they make that big a difference?

never seen a second hand one for sale on it's own... I don't think that many cars got them... maybe just DCCD models,

and 6 speeds v8+

aftermarket plated diff would cost $2000+

would make a big difference to handling... not all good ones depending on your needs.

Front LSD can be bought new, but as Loren says - $$$. Second hand you could get lucky and find one in certain STi boxes, but you wont generally find them on their own - you will need to buy the box too.

Also, what do you want it for? Are you finding you are loosing front end grip? And if so, what sort of tyres and suspension do you have?

I would suggest a front LSD is important if you are competiting on gravel, as it makes a fair bit of difference. But not so sure circuit racing that its so relevant as most grip issues can be overcome by good tyres and suspension. Depends how serious you are though.
