Jap Oil pressure gauges - Anyone have them installed??

Hi guys,

Just wanted to know if anyone has any Jap brand name oil pressures gauges hooked up?

Where did you install the sender unit?

Is it possible to remove the oil pressure switch and install the sender in its place. I dont want to drill and tap into the sump.

you shouldnt have to tap the sump, from memroy...and i may be wrong here...but i think the oil pressure switch is under the alternator...

Can someone please confirm this...

you shouldn't tap the sump while on the car i know, metal fileings = bad

i know its around the area of the piston thats drivers side closest to front

and i think the thread there is wrong but very very simailar

I was told to remote mount the oil press sender as they die from vibrations

Dunno about a Jap brand, but I have a Prosport one installed and just used a sandwich plate with the filter installed on top.

i tryed a sandwhich plate but, my external wastegate was in the way so couldnt fit it all there anyway.

but they make the oil filter sit to close to the ground for comfort & the pressure senders get cooked from the heat and fail?

I use a tapped sump plug for temp...

Pressure tee into Factory (you need to leave factory sender there too) under alternator

make note you need to remove sump plug!

best option is to get another plug, and prep it for next time you do oil change

never heard of anyone ripping theirs out in this application

is your wiring just pulled tight (as not to get close to exhaust manifold)....got pics

hah to be honest its not in working order currently, last time I paid for a service he guy left wire of and end got minced on road, was reasonably tight - sorry no pix as I have a plastic under-guard in place as well

all good , just trying to think of how the wires would be run....will have another look once i get under my car and see where it can go.

i had mine there the same, my were hanging loose for a long time after i installed it and was fine still

i have a tee set up thing if you want one to fit your gauge sender into block.. its $30 brand new.
