Gearbox compatibility

Hi, I've got a 1991 Legacy gearbox type TZ102ZD1AA. I also have a gearbox type TZ102ZB1AA. Are these two compatible for a swap over? I've got a car with no motor and a good box and a car with a good box and no motor!!

are they awd ?

if the final drive ratio is the same than nothing else really matters

put it in 4th gear and count how many times you have to turn the imput shaft to do one complete turn on the output shafts / 4.1 is 4 turns plus a lil bit . 4.4 is nearly 4 and a half turns etc

Thanks, but they're both automatics. One is out of a 1997 Outlander the other is a 1991 Legacy. I've not had a Subaru before so just not sure. Both boxes look the same......

otherwise autobox vs autobox shouldnt be any differnt

other than turbo vs na etc
