zeroing wrx sti speedo

does any one know how to zero the odometer on these speedos ? iv rebult the engine so wanted it zerod before the re vin ... cheers

apparently its not i checked it out and you can do what you want with your odomter if you are re vinning / re registering your vehicle

hahathey will still know how many kms its done... as you need the de reg papers to re vin it.

someone once told me that with manual speedos u can turn the the rotatin thing in reverse till goes to whee u want haha or drive in reverse

i have never tried so not sure if will work

as for digital ones - try the companies that do american cars to nz (left to right drive) as they do mph to kmph speedo setup

maybe they can reset

yeah the old mechanical ones eg v3 and earlier you could do it..

can be done by setting up a cordless drill with the right attachment and wind back or forward.

So im lead to believe have never physically done myself..

Besides will show up on your carjam report etc as they check your kms at wof...

takes ages, even witha high speed drill.

wont work in reverse... will have to wind it forwards till it rolls over

is it worth the effort? just add a tag to say when you rebuilt motor....

or maybe if its a manual speedo then open the covr and manually roll the numbers to 0000000

I would advise against that, as the numbers will never ever line up properly again, would be better to disassemble and set to 000000

put a sticker over the odometer. then it will always say 000000 and you can feel good about having a brand new car everyday.
