BP5 Legacy Spec B Equal vs Unequal extractors

Hi all Subaru lovers this is my 2006 legacy spec b 6 speed

I am thinking of changing extractors to unequal to get that suby rumble which i dearly miss

Questions

1. Problems I may strike??

2. Were to get a set (I see NZkiwi has some SSI ones,

The main problem you'll run into is people berating you for downgrading the performance of your car, no joke.

Equal length is better in almost every way except, no, you don't have the unequal pulse known as 'fxxx it's those boy racers again'/'boxer rumble'.

Yeah seems like their is no deffinant answer maybe i just get a new after market manifold and divorced down pipe which might make it sound better

Don't do it. The definant answer is it won't work properly without doing the headers, uppipe, turbo, and downpipe. You need twinscroll headers to match the twinscroll uppipe, and UEL twinscroll headers don't exist because they would give crap performance.

I don't mind the sound of equal length, I know what the sound like as one of my neighbors owns a LGT similar to yours. Get a proper system from downpipe back and enjoy the extra torque.

cheers yeah from what ive been told only subtech have the ones to suit

But the Subtech one needs modifying too if you have a 6mt as they don't make a specific downpipe for that transmission so the mounts are in the wrong place

Tone was a bit sharper, not much louder until on boost. If you're just after tone then mufflers are a much better investment.

For decatting it, all you really need are a socket set and ring spanners to get the downpipe and turbo heatshield off, then just a drill with a hole saw attachment and a steel bar of some sort to smash any remaining pieces out. Could do it with a sharp rod but it'd be a bit of an effort i'd imagine.

Not so much a raspy sound but just less muffled. Decent performance gains to be had if a tune is done with it.
