Legacy BP stereo aerial

I still have stock radio.. it will go some day but for now I'm stuck with it and a bandexpander. Recently replaced as it wasn't working that well, new one is better in some areas and worse in others.

How does the aerial work in these cars, is it in the Windscreen? If I replace the windscreen have I replaced the aerial or is there some other module to it?

They are window aerials - just unsure which one - I think its rear left in a wagon.

Is the band expander wired into 12v?

Yes it's off tHe accessory wire of the stereo. old one was bodged solidered on to aerial.But the new one is all factory connectors except for the 12 volt tap. I thought it was the front wind screen as they have element looking things down the bottom where tHe wipers are, that I assumed weren't elements.

ADIKT is correct, my user manual states that it is the rear gate window. I can confirm this also as I had the trim off not long ago and it has the module/receiver fixed to the gate door.

Not quite. I thought it was the rear left window not the rear gate boot door thing. But close enough.

Somewhere in amongst all of the elements on the rear gate window glass anyway...

So what are the element like things in the windscreen under the wipers? Are they actually de-icers for the wipers?
