TD06 20G

Anyone know if a ej20 can spool a tdo6 20g? Have had mixed answers on the topic.

looking at getting one to replace my vf28 as its maxed out on 21 psi.

Wanting to know if the lag would out way any boost increase.

Bit of a loaded question. What size turbine and housing? Engine and mods? Brand of turbo? Boost control?

 

21psi on a vf28 is very different to 21psi on a td06. Boost is just a measure of restriction thro the engine so being that the td06 flows more air more efficently it will make more power per psi. Thats a pretty crude way to explain it hope it makes sense.

It will spool way later but make a tonne more power. It will make you car way less fun in the city, and way more likely to get your license suspended on the open road.

We have a few td06 now. Spool between 3600-4400 depending on what turbo/engine setup

Thanks for the reply, That does make sense, my concern was late delivery of boost e.g 4500rpm only leaving 4000rpm of boost. I was un aware of boost being different on different turbos so thanks heaps for info.

Does it feel like a life time before boost comes on?

A stock head subaru engine tends to fall over around 6-6.5k. If you drive on the revs or like changing gear a td06 is fun. If you like to just peg it without changing gears the vf is the better choice. 

 

Personally i like a car to come to life around 3.5k. A bigger turbo means you dont make 20psi every time you nudge the throttle which i prefer on a daily. If you ever need to go fast thro a windy section you work the gears and enjoy.

 

There are also different versions of td06. You want the td06sl2 turbine in a 7cm housing for maximum spool potential. Anything larger will result in a higher threshold.
