Tiptronic Gear Indicator Not Displaying?

The diagnostic connectors I think are two green two black on your car (dont know for sure), this is for automatic diagnostic’s so hope this helps, mite work might not work on your Model but hey who knows ,mine where black and white, anyhow you can see how they plug in so won’t go there

Anyway there are two read modes, memory and current self explanatory that one

Get your car to operating temperature, drive for a min or two then stop turn off car but leave ignition ON

Slap her in 1st gear and push you hold switch ON...Sheez if you have one if you don’t then piff forget it

Anyway just in case I will carry on

After that Cycle the ignition switch off-on

Slap her in 2nd and turn the hold switch off then

Slap her in 3rd and turn the hold switch on then

Slap her in “Drive" and turn the hold switch off then

Put you foot down on the accelerator and release

light should be flashing now so then just give me the code if any if this worked at all, hope it dose but IMO sounds like low amp’s

this is for mem mode

sorry the codes read just the same as ecu ie long blink 10 short 1

Ha, Ego you are mixing ecu and tcu code extracting but this thing doesn't oblige with either I don't think.

There are people out there working on software to connect laptops to tcus as I speak. It won't be long and we will be able to do everything the subaru scanner can do but for now... it's off to a subaru dealer.

If this is an 04 legacy then the instrument panels are known to have faults. It is so far specific to one particular part number of panel but it's possible that panel fits other years/models as well.

Fully-programmable? Modify numerous aspects of the transmission? Because that will be awesome.. More info if you have it log1call ...tunability is a must if they can

tunability?

why? if you wanted that wouldnt ya just get a link?

no good for standard / unmodified applications like this one..

personally you should bite the bullet and get a gearbox specialist to have a look, ( even if its just for a quote ;) )

Disagree there jedi off the top of my head if log1call is saying what i hope he is saying you could do

Tuning for

Shift points

Shift firmness

Converter lock-up

Accelerator input and more a bit more regardless of standard and moded formats, using STD TCU would be awesome and cheap as hell,

Thanks guys, lots to ponder over....don't want to spend much money on this car so will try my best to do what I can, but, it sounds like a professional is going to be needed - bugger. About the plug and play, just saying that as even my Ram has a good system like that, nothing fancy and as much as I like my yank tanks, Japanese cars out tech them easily so I'm more surprised than anything else that Subaru doesn't have it's own "SCT Tuner", of sorts. Do these instrument clusters maintain the odometer reading of the vehicle or is that stored elsewhere? Just asking as a new cluster might also solve it, it seems touchy but everything back there is fine (had alarm guy look at it today).

The odometer reading is in the dash unit.

You really need to get a dealer to scan it before spending money on anything though.

The dash fault is a failing display but you say the display only fails in manual shift mode, so it may not be the problem, but it might be. Some dashes these days have bloody mini computers built into them on the printed circuit board and, just like all other computers they can get hardware or software faults. Not a thing to take guesses at when they can be $1700.

The trouble is Ego, we keep getting new technologies as quick as we hack the old ones.

OBD2 is outdated because we have whole car controlling units now that the OBD2 doesn't even look at.

In theory the can system would simplify things, but the manufacturers won't like that so they will adapt some trick to keep it in-house.

Perhaps aftermarket controllers will become the way to go for everything, then the manufacturers will press for legislation(for safety/enviromental reasons), to ban that.

Yes I totally understand I’ve been trying to open a dialog with a Subaru researcher in gunma, very very limited information not very forthcoming with information at all.

I had taken some time off work the last day and a half to suss this out so I wasn’t going to give up there. I rang a guy in the uk I know who gave me an email address of a British Subaru technician working in SIA who has been around the research technology departments of FHI, he was allot more forth coming with bits and pieces,

he told me there could be away to manipulate the Transmission’s learning control system, for target value's by modifying the SSMIII or Philips 8xC591 PeliCAN Pin Out’s, to laptop to be able to program the TCU and ecu from the one interface using the multi-plex signal from CAN bus to laptop, and software may need to be written or something like that, my dam email software deletes emails that are a day old unless I save them, (function now turned off)

but he did say this was purely speculation from 1 hour of him thinking about it, but he’s going to get back to me in regards to some other things I asked about to, he did say an easier way things could be done via a lap top to connector pin’s in the ecu,

but he reckons that the transmissions learning control system would be a good place to start, so I’m going to look into it, this person could be a random crazy just messing with me telling his colleges that he’s hooked a sucker ya know so will do a bit more before I get to excited another month or two then il give up if it goes nowhere, got the feeling this is going to cost money to...

Have you tried driving it with those covers off the shifter assembly and flicking those micro switches with a pen/screwdriver etc?

True, good point.

Those old Legacys don't have a body control module. The TCM would be my first pick to try. Its easy enough to fit one and see if anything changes. Finding the right one could be interesting though....

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
