Any tricks for stuborn lifter?

I got one lifter that is noisy as hell all the time. Done a oil change with a flush bout 300k ago and stuck the mbl8 in too but its still ticking and drivng me nuts. To me it sounds like its got no oil in that lifter as its a very metal on metal sound. Not ready to put wrx heads on as was wanting to use them on my spare motor. Any tricks i could try?

I assume you mean drive the car? Yes. There's not many easy ways to get the ATF through the lifter.

ATF has high detergent properties, so will clean out the inside of the lifter, and the engine in general. Don't run it for much longer than a couple of hundred kms as the filter may block up.

Someone told me to get a air gun and blow back thru the lifter to clear any blockages. Anyone think this is a good idea?

Getting to the lifter is the problem there....

atf and oil mix. Interesting. I have a noisey lifter on my 2.5 wagon.when it idles it sounds like a diesel. Will have to give it a try.

2.5s run solid lifters. ATF won't help those. Thicker oil will though.
