lightened flywheel or standard for street/strip driving

i agree,really what is 1-2kg going to do in comparison to taking 5-6kg off when you rreally feel the difference.

I was going to go with close to a 7kg flywheel but im glad now i went with a 5kg one

well, im after around the 7kg, so thats what i plan to get lol

i havnt driven a 7ish, only had a go with a 3.5kg, and i just didn't like it.

so thats really why i only want to knock off a few kgs, so if i can just take it out of the stand fly wheel then i will be happier coz it will be cheaper

3.5kg! now thats light,i was going to go with a 6.5kg one but glad i got the 5kg instead.Best investment upgrade for power increase ive made so far on my car to be honest.highly recomended

A lighter flywheel does not increase power, it only feels that way due to it getting to the power band faster.

How light do you reckon you could go before recomendation of a scatter blanket?

It doesnt increase powermuch, it fact torque figures will be bugger all, it lightens the inertia it takes for the motor to build revs hence the feeling of more power.

Depends if you're lightening a factory one or using an aftermarket one made of stronger materials i.e. better for being lightweight.

You'll be able to get much lighter in aftermarket varieties i.e. Cro-moly or Alloy than what you'd get from lightening a cast factory one. So I don't think its worth the risk of going super light with a factory one.

well me performance book says you can safely take up to 1kg off a standard flywheel and anymore will risk failure.Basicly they dont make the standard ones with modifications in mind or test thm to that ability either id imagine

Taking stuff off the factory one is ok to a point as long as you dont have a muppet doing it..................and this is something you have no real control over. i personally just got a exedy billet 12lb flywheel, but it was only $350 so thats why i got it
