Help please with wiring towbar wiring kit into tail/brake lights

Hi Guys ~ Im halfway thru wiring up my new tow bar wiring kit and have had no trouble doing left and right indicators, earth, etc.....but have one wire left to connect and one last question:

I went to hook into the brake lights & found there are three possible wires to connect to, here is a photo:

The wires are coloured from left to right: solid black, white with black stripe and solid red. The black wire seems to terminate on the side of the unit, whereas the other two fit thru the bottom.

Which one do I connect to?

car is 1996 JDM wrx sedan

You prolly need a test light to prob the wires n get a mate to put foot on and off the brake etc till you find whats whats, teh outside one will more than lightly be the earth

infact, i wud hazard a guess and say the red one is the stop light

cheers mate - I guess i should just link into the red one, knowing that if its wrong its definitely the other one then! lol

you will need both wires as you trailer will need the same (driving light and stop light) on the back for driving at night so it is lite up with your lights on

really a test light is a HUGE help, its just painful & time consuming playing the guesssing game

ACtually man i just found a diagram and the White with a black strip is the brake

I actually had have that diagram too - but could tell which was which, how did you know?

You can see the letters WB (white with black) on the actual stop light wire, the other is B for black (normally earth), couple that with the pic you sent it makes sense.
