STI's are overated.

yeah, but not as much as they are underated...you just have to know which TYPE to get ;D

As to the Legacy Vs WRX:

90 Legacy (GT Auto) was a nice, well apointed car that could move rather quickly when needed. While in stock trim it was no STI, it was miles ahead of my previous US and Aussie 6 and 8 cyl cars in both performance (very much including handling here) and creature comforts.

A wee bit more boost, decent exhaust, RS ECU with a/m chip and some new suspension made it come alive.

96 GT wagon was a boat; tons of room and smooth driving, but not as rewarding as a WRX.

Must say though, they do have a nice shape to them, especially when lowered.

A decent set of tyres, coilovers and some V4 STI seats completely changed the experience though; nice firm ride, with quick and sharp turning response. If only they came with one turbo...

V2 STI was a shock! After the 90 Legacy, i was almost drunk from the performance. So similar to the legacy but yet so much more capable in every department. If you have never driven one through a nice twisty back road, go out and do it now!

V3-4 WRX (wagon). Following on the STI (stolen >:( ), it was a let down to be sure. Not as boat-ish as the TT but nothing as crisp as the STI, and the TD04 was rather limp, but id did have enough room to move flats in.

A set of Tein adjustables and a new VF22 and it was all but the equal of the STI. Didn't quite feel as nimble (but that could just be me thinking it's a station wagon).

V7 RA Spec C What can i say...Legacy's AND STI's only wished they were...

Despite the fact that the Spec C is top of my list, i would have to say i miss the TT Legacy wagon the most...

i've never had the pleasure of driving an SVX, so i don't know what i would think. from what i can tell though, it seems to be a touring car more in line with the Ferrari 550 Maranello than the M5.

So far off the mark it ain't funny.

:P

Back in it's heyday the SVX was compared to the Jag XJS.

Keep doing what you're doing, and go for many test drives, until one car feels like it's the one. ;)

I think otherwise the debate will go on forever, and I spose that's not a bad thing. :)

For my 2c worth, I own a Gen II Legacy and an Impreza, and the GT part's a great Grand Tourer, the wagon part's good for shopping and the auto part's good for motorway and 'round town. The Impreza's good for long distances, windy roads and track days. And the Charade's good for motorkhanas :D

You have an aftermarket clutch & suspension? STi or regular WRX? v7 STi is anything but hard or stiff IMO. XR6Turbo or modded twin plate GT-R have stiff clutches - Impreza is a pussy cat by comparison.

Regular WRX is very mild in terms of ride & ease of use in our experience.

All seem in agreement that Legacy is the Grand Tourer, and that it's better equipped as a more luxurious car, as Subaru intended. No question that it is the superior luxury tourer with pace and grace.

Impreza is deffinatly the drivers car some people even class as a weekend racer :)

We consider it [WRX] a practical daily driver comfortable and spacious enough to tour in. Having a young-un means we stop regularly to stretch legs & take in scenery anyway so any discomfort some experience over long distances is irrelevant. Not that we do a lot of long distance work anyway. Tauranga to Auckland or Taupo is as far as we've ventured for a while now & the next planned trips only go as far as National Park.

Looking like our RSK will be sold soon for an Impreza ;D

how so? like I said I've never driven one. In fact, I've only seen one once, that I can be sure of. I don't mean to equate its performance with the ferrari at all, just the idea of a large, 2 door, grand touring car. So far, the XJS would fall into that same category I think?

SVX looked better, how could it not ?

It was designed by one of the greatest car doodlers ever, Giorgetto Giugiaro/Italdesign.

While the Ferrari and M5 were hardcore performance cars, the SVX and XJS were softer, more genteel cars.

Designed to waft along in comfort rather than with sharp handling and high speed.

The SVX was hampered by its weight; 1600kg and only ~172kW

It was a great looking, luxurious 2+2 touring car for the well heeled, though not to the tune of $116k.

Indenticar list them as being first imported in May 1992 at $75K.

The Ferrari 550 was not a hardcore performance car, by Ferrari's standards, it was a tourer. the F50 and the F355 were the mid-engine sports cars of its day. I just see it as Ferrari's take on the same idea as the XJS, but with a little more performance. After all, it is a Ferrari.

OOOH! post 100 :P

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
