frankenstien legacy clutch troubles.

right, first off the block is gtb, head is rs.

the clutch is the heaviest one we could find, (gt twin turbo)

the release bearing started whining about 3 weeks ago, and yesterday at the main intersection to sanson, went to change down, and the pedal went to the floor with no resistance.

waited for it to cool down, check fluids etc, release lever moves with hand force, and the fluid level is fine.

there was no noise at all, and a horrible smell of clutch when the bonnet was opened.

there is nothing holding the clutch pedal now, so it moves freely.

any ideas on if its the release bearing, or if the whole clutch needs replacing?

had to happen on the way to taupo from wellington...

3 years, and about 33000k's on it.

was brand new when it went in.

its not a daily driver, its a race car.

either way ya gotta take the box out, so diagnose then.

its in two pieces. :doh:

the clutch is also rooted, so thats all out and the new one is being ordered tomorrow.

maybe then it will run better. that and the fuel senders we got from scavenge a part.
